This is an amazing achievement by a remarkable young Deaf woman who has worked tirelessly advocating the needs of Deaf people and the Deaf community. With a focus on ‘Deaf gain’ rather than a ‘hearing loss’, Drisana highlights the positiveness of being a Deaf individual and contributing to our society. She does this while maintaining a strong focus on Deaf people’s human rights to access language including Auslan. We salute you Drisana and look forward to watching you make a difference to the lives of Deaf and hard of hearing individuals across Australia and indeed the world.
