Dear AEGEEans, On this 13th of May 2014 in Soma, Turkey, a grave mine accident occurred, maybe one of the biggest of the world considering the high number of deaths. With the explosion of the transformer of a brown coal mine resulting in a mass fire we witnessed a shocking disaster. With the latest news we came to know that more than 300 mine workers and thus 300 of our fathers, brothers and uncles, perished. Our grief here in Turkey is immense. We give our condolences to the families of the deceased and wish endurance to their friends. Furthermore, we pray that the more than 120 of our working brothers who are still trapped in the mine will be safely rescued as soon as possible. As AEGEE-Istanbul family we share and profoundly feel this woe. Even though our country is complex and unsettled in every aspect we would like to call for togetherness in these times, those who want to destroy it should be hindered in their attempts. We want to try to soothe the pain lived in Soma together as one. We want to do whatever we can to improve the situation. It is not the first mine accident that occurs, but we very much hope it is the last. We hope that the significance of this happening and the things experienced here will not be forgotten soon, Condolences to the whole Turkish country, First and foremost at every workplace *LIVE SAFETY* Best wishes to all of you, AEGEE-Istanbul AEGEE-Izmir
