Dear Administrator: Please remove me from this group. As much as I have had fun reminiscing, as I no longer live in the area, I am now reminded why I do not live there any more. Lack of tolerance for any other group than your own. My grandparents lived in Lawrence all of their lives, my father went to high school there too. The city was a mill town that many hard working immigrants called home. It was through their values and hard work, that this city thrived. Additionally, it was the tolerance towards immigrants that attracted more immigrants to come to Lawrence. Each group had, and still has, its discrimination. Just because it does not affect your particular ethnicity in 2014, the discrimination and prejudice is still wrong. It is the same thing that our grandparents and great grand parents endured during their time. Thanks for the memories- but no thank you to the Archie Bunkers of the Mingya Valley!
