Dear All. At 10pm Thursday night my name was used in a post that incited hatred and doubt about the work I perform. This post was made despite the poster being aware of the full facts, none of which are illegal in the UAE, and thus a smear campaign against me began. The post I made below yesterday was just one of many messages posted in response to the original statement made by the page. Over the course of the day the comments got worse and many people jumped on the band wagon I can only imagine because people love the thrill of being involved in something exciting. What none of them realize as they must have missed the front page news a couple of weeks back, is that naming someone publically without their consent, even in a good way never mind in such hurtful and negative manner is in fact illegal. Further more, all my and my friends attempts to defend me and explain the truth to those commenting and believing the statements made, were being instantly deleted so I wasnt even given the chance to explain the truth. My legal team have advised me pursue this as this has affected my work and my reputation already. The only reason I refrained from going to the police yesterday, as was my right, is because there are children involved, and despite what all my haters think; I do care. The attempt made by the page to redeem themselves the following morning is not apology enough and actually went on to continue to encourage more handfuls of hateful messages. I honestly cannot believe that this is how humanitarians behave, especially ones I have helped so many times in the past and considered a friend. For those of you who have been supportive, I thank you. I ask everyone to please not comment negatively or mention names please if you are going to comment on this; we are better than that.
