Dear All, Coming up at your favourite golf club this week we - TopicsExpress

Dear All, Coming up at your favourite golf club this week we have the nine hole weekly competition beginning tomorrow. Saturday is Captain’s Day and Ruth and Greg have ordered shotgun start at 12 noon to begin the annual grudge match between the men and the ladies. The field is filling so get your name in for what is always a great day on the golfing calendar. A 4BBB stableford is the game. (When was the last time the ladies won – I think Moses was playing!). They have nibbles organised for the completion of the game. Pennant is at the Cliffs on Sunday, we are expecting about 120 golfers so if you intend having a game on Sunday the tees should start to free up after 12.30 pm. Thanks to those who have volunteered to referee, put fields out and tend the BBQ. Our Men’s division one team need to win 4 games to one or even better 5 zip against Broken Hill to make the final. If this happens and Mildura beat Coomealla we go in or if Coomie defeats Mildura it comes down to percentage. The Div 2 team has had a hard time of it to date and are out of contention and while the Div 3 team have had a couple of wins the final is just a dream. I haven’t any results from the ladies. Wednesday next has the ladies playing par for the trophies of Sandy Marwood and Chris Taylor and the blokes are also playing par. Also coming up we have the club championships beginning on July 6th – that is for both genders, and an early call for a day sponsored by Sunraysia Hearing on Wednesday July 31st. We get a donation from the Hearing clinic for every one of us who take a hearing test so recruit your Mum’s, Dad’s and anyone else you can think of! Yesterday Michael Timms fresh from his holidays had 36 points to win on a count back from Cliff Tomlinson in the men’s competition. Denese Rohde had a nett 69 to win the ladies A Grade comp and Anne Newberry with a nett 66 had the score of the day winning B Grade. Don’t forget your raffle tickets for the houseboat holiday, it is time to sell them and get the book back, it will be drawn on Saturday August 17th, the day of the Annual General Meeting. Speaking of the AGM, it is time you gave some thought to nominating for the committee, as you know, a club is only as strong as it’s administration so please consider it. All the best to Rod Gray who is on the sick list, get well soon Rod; I see Geoff Smith is back in the fold and ready to take on the ladies this Saturday, well done Geoff. On the bar this Sunday we have Bob Chase opening up, Rita to take his place at 11 am and Graeme Duffy to do the afternoon session. Could be a busy day with pennant on. The new telly has been purchased and will be put up soon – thanks to all those who had aries, OOB, didn’t make the ladies and other misdemeanours, we will all benefit from your mistakes!!! We have had a couple of suggestions for the next purchase from the tin with the pink lid – if you have a thought on this please let us know. That’s all I can think of, Catch you on the course, Cheers Mick
