Dear All, I regret to announce that due to illness Hannes Bogaert will not be able to give the lunchlecture of tomorrow. However, we have found ir. David Markey willing to replace mr. Bogaert. He will introduce his PhD research consisting of the following: Research on Wind-Assisted Ship Propulsion. Abstract: In the foreseeable future wind-assisted commercial vessels will become more and more of interest in the maritime transport world. In the future not only the reduction of fuel consumption will stimulate these developments but certainly also the reduction of emissions in sensitive areas. The rise of viable concepts however is hampered by the lack of knowledge to asses and predict the performance of such a wind-assisted commercial ship. Therefore a Performance Prediction Programme for wind-assisted ship propulsion is being developed in a double PhD study at Delft University of Technology.
