Dear All, It is unfortunate after near 80 years of no conflict - TopicsExpress

Dear All, It is unfortunate after near 80 years of no conflict between the Madi of Uganda and Kuku, the ugly face of trouble is coming. The last major war like problems between Madi and Kuku happened during the time of Matia (the father of late Felix Kenyi Onoma), I understand Chief Matia was hanged( for killing many Kuku near Gbari) by the Brits to prevent Kuku onslaught on the Madi. Another trouble between the Madi and the Kuku happened from 1966 to 1967 in the time Felix Kenyi Onoma was the minister of defense in Obote 1 time. Although it was not to hurt the Kuku as a personal decision by Onoma, the Madi took advantage of the then government of Uganda to manage the refugees at the border to avoid conflict with Sudan. The consequences of the forced relocation of refugees from the border to inland productive areas was enormous in terms of wealth lost. That incident caused a lot of hurt to the Kuku because all our animals(measure of riches in that part of the world) were looted by the Madi. Even if we have lived peacefully as neighbours, it is not because we have forgiven nor forgotten but it is because we also believe that sometimes when bad omen come to people, it strikes first property and wealth. So wealth and property can be worked for at later period but human being cannot be got once lost. We should be reminded that although a big number of the Madi have Kuku origin, the Madi are pond of malice and back stabbing; their word is molombe. They create problems and escape to blames others. So we should stand by ourselves for our land and our local leaders until the eye of the storm has passed. For our local consumption the local administrator of Moyo has no diplomatic immunity nor is he entitled to be treated like a diplomat. The only Ugandan diplomats in South Sudan are those working in the Ugandan Embassy in Juba. So anybody who crosses the border to South Sudan at KK is the responsibility of the commissioner to deal with. In the past the border issues was raised and we blamed Muki for being militaristic and now Kala, where shall we end?? In the north of KK the Jengge are encroaching in the name of displacement and in the South the Madi grabbing our land; where shall we go??? Sur Supiri??? We have to stand our ground even with one leg. From reading on the lines and information from home, the current crisis was planned by some Madi and the move of Vukoni was to test the ground. So many things are wrong and many Madi are afraid that they are locally being dominated by the Kuku economically. And another problem is the oil and mineral resources in the border region. The Madi want to own the land by pushing the border line so that they will gain royalties from the land which is not theirs. Then there is the longer hand from the government of Uganda. But we should all remember that we are all under the sky made by God and Vukoni, me and the rest will go when our time come but the land will remain there. The best we can all do is to manage the land so that those who will come will benefit as both neighbours and people with common inherited culture. In conclusion, as Joseph Gwolo said and others seconded let those who have contribute to rescue the situation and let the local chiefs allocate land to immediately settle the forced returnees. We should also stand together in solidarity with both our people and our leaders. At this time diplomacy should be behind the scene, but rescue and defense should be paramount.
