Dear All, We share a publication and press release on a technological advancement achieved by Ariosa scientists. They have successfully customized a microarray to quantify the DANSR DNA products, currently quantified using a sequence-based method. The microarrays quantify the same DANSR DNA products as those using sequence-based testing, but are able to do so with considerable time savings. The DANSR assay and FORTE algorithm that drive the Harmony’s fundamental performance remain the same. However, as you will see in the paper, when the customized microarray was compared with NGS, 100% concordant results are obtained with even higher quality and importantly, much faster turn around time. This technological advancement in NIPT was designed by Ariosa scientists over the past 18 months as part of a long term vision to enhance performance and speed. Although it is largely accepted that arrays are a superior quantification method to sequencing, the random sequencing approach of other NIPTS analyzing large parts of the genome is not compatible with an array, which quantifies specific sequences. The Harmony test is uniquely capable of leveraging the advantages of a microarray because it is based on a targeted technology that focuses on the chromosomes of interest. This method is expected to be fully integrated by the end of the year and we will keep you posted on that in the coming months. Please find the link to the online paper below. It is expected to appear in print in the following months. karger/Article/Pdf/367626
