Dear American Horror Story, a few notes for season 4… 1. Please stop wasting Evan Peters. He demonstrated in season 1 that he can hold his own next to Jessica Lange and even carry the show on occasion. So why have you relegated him to some sort of helpless boy-toy the past two seasons? 2. For once, just once, I want to see Jessica Lange’s badass win. I guess one could argue that she won in season 1, but it wasn’t really her that won. It was Tate’s serial killing demon spawn. The past two seasons, Lange has played the ultimate love-to-hate character for most of the season only to completely unravel and fizzle in the end. It’s called American Horror Story. We’d like to see the bad girl win on occasion. 3. Can you bring back Zachary Quinto? Kathy Bates was an ok substitute. But the show is missing a certain something without Quinto. Now if you bring back Kathy Bates and Zachary Quinto, THAT would be fun! 4. Please return to creepy. I know Ryan Murphy mentioned several times that he was really into this campy, glam thing Coven had going on. Me, not so much. I like the show when it’s controversial and creepy as hell and not just a Joss Whedon knockoff. I mean I love Joss Whedon. But if I want Joss Whedon, I’ll watch Joss Whedon. 5. Controversy! Controversy! Controversy! My favorite American Horror Story episodes over the past few seasons have been the ones that ended with me gaping at the television and wondering if that really just happened. There weren’t many of those moments this season (at least not in a good way). More, please, for season 4. Remember Nazi doctor rolling himself into incinerator on top of dead nun in Asylum? Yeah, me too. More of that, please.
