Dear Art Department Alumni, Did you make some amazing work during your time in the Art Department? Would you like the opportunity to show that work on campus, and add another line to your resume? This is your chance. You are invited to submit works created during your time as a student in the Art Department AND created within the last three years. The strongest work will be selected by a faculty committee, and shown in the Catherine J. Smith Gallery or Looking Glass Gallery as part of our NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design) reaccreditation. We are looking forward to seeing your work! Best, Jeana Klein and the Art Faculty SUBMISSION GUIDELINES • Works must have been created during your time at Appalachian, between 2010-2013. • You may submit up to 3 pieces, which may be represented by up to 2 images each. • Video, performance, web-based or other media that cannot be appropriately documented with still images may be submitted via web links. • Images should be in jpeg format, 72ppi, 1200 pixels in the widest dimension, maximum 1MB each file. • Images should be named: LastName_FirstInitial_WorkTitle.jpg. For example: DaVinci_L_MonaLisa.jpg. For details or second views, add 2 at the end. For example: DaVinci_L_MonaLisa2.jpg • Complete an image information document (attached) for each piece submitted. Name each document: LastName_FirstInitial_WorkTitle_Info.doc. For example: DaVinci_L_MonaLisa_Info.doc • Submit all images and image info documents (or web links plus image info documents for time-based art) via email to Jeana Klein at [email protected] • “NASAD Exhibition 2010-2013” should be the subject line for your email. • Email submissions are due no later than Friday, September 20 at 5pm. Accepted work must be delivered to the Catherine J. Smith Gallery or Looking Glass Gallery in person. At the conclusion of the exhibition, work must be picked up in person. IMPORTANT DATES • Friday, September 20, 5pm: email submission deadline • Friday, October 4: email notification of acceptance and venue information (Catherine J. Smith Gallery or Looking Glass Gallery) • October 14-15*: deliver accepted work to designated venue • Tuesday, October 29: Exhibition receptions • November 18-19**: pick work up from designated venue *With prior arrangement, work may be delivered early to Wey Hall. **With prior arrangement, work may be stored in Wey Hall for later pick up.
