Dear Bassoon Players/Geeks/Enthusiasts! I present to you, - TopicsExpress

Dear Bassoon Players/Geeks/Enthusiasts! I present to you, photos of an Adler bassoon belonging to Archie Camden, the man who (almost) single-handedly championed the German bassoon in Britain. THIS instrument was played by him in the FIRST EVER recording of the Mozart Bassoon Concerto, which was (apparently) the first ever recording made of a wind concerto. Who knew?! Anyway, have a look at this beautiful instrument from c.1923 and hardly updated since! My favourite bits are the crook/bocal mechanism, the warping of some of the metal keys and the worn-off finish where hands and thumbs go. If youd like to hear me play it, save the date of 14th September and watch this space for further details! If youd like to hear the original recording of the Mozart, open your mind, expand your ears, abandon your twenty-first century constructs of what a bassoon should sound like and follow this link: damians78s.co.uk/html/archie_camden.html
