Dear Bay Ridge, Ive spent the last 21 years of my life living and growing in Bay Ridge. I call these streets my home and you all my family. Youve been there for me all these years, and I wanted to reach out to you all to see if this New Years Eve you might be there for me just one more time. In gearing up to ring in 2015, Im hoping you consider sparing just $1 from your champagne fund and, instead, supporting Centre dEducation Inclusif - CEI, an effort to build an inclusive primary school in Les Cayes, Haiti. As a student at Cornell University, I wanted something more from my educational experience than just pre-set problem sets. With my team of 24 Cornell students, weve managed to develop the educational, architectural, and development plans for CEI. We were able to find a way to use our coursework to make real change in the world, hoping to integrate Haitian students living with disabilities into traditional classroom settings. However, now we need your support to make CEI, our dream, a reality.
