Dear Boxing Diary - Day 58. Today I was caught off guard - today we sparred with competitive teen guys and not our coaches. These boys were 16 & 18 and have been training MUCH longer than us. Fast feet. Fast Bob & Weave. Hard punches. It was an eye opener and realization that our trainers have really just been playing patty-cake with us for the past few weeks. I got another bloody nose. Best part of the training session was Coach Mark telling me that the 16 yr old told him I punched hard. Oh goodie. That means I must have connected with him at least once! He was a lefty. That screwed me up big time. Having to throw a cross first then a jab. Staying on the outside of his foot, and watching for his cross. My brain was tired and I found it very tough to defend against. Then the 18 yr old? WELL! He was a hard puncher and didnt hold back at all! I do know I connected with him twice and rattled his chiclets so that was most satisfying! Ive been sizing up some of my competition and realize both Lisa & Lindsay are both over a foot taller than me! Ha! I shall be the Queen of the Rib Shot! :)
