Dear Burger King; I am going to miss Whoppers. They have been a pleasure to me for forty-five years. No other burger is quite the same. But I have eaten my last Whopper because of your corporate decision to create a tax inversion to avoid US corporate taxes. This move may legally reduce the company’s overall tax liability and maximize shareholder value, but it is a slap in the face to the nation where your company made its mark and where it makes the majority of its profits. Your company benefits from every mile of interstate highway and paved state road which leads to the doors of your restaurant. Your restaurants are protected by tax-supported police and fire departments, your advertisements are delivered to my home by the US Postal Service. Your company derives countless benefits from tax-supported agencies from national to local. And now, you are choosing to dodge paying your fair share of supporting the services you enjoy. You are being anti-American for the sake of maximizing your profit. Patriotism may have become something to make fun of, but I consider what you are doing to be anti-patriotic. I cannot support you while you take such a selfish position. Regrettably, Your former customer Brice Hughes
