Dear CUPA Undergraduate Students: I would like to take the opportunity to extend a brief greeting to you during this summer period from the Office of the Dean. I became the new Dean of the College of Urban and Public Affairs in June and I am delighted to join a College with great programs, a strong faculty, and a diverse set of undergraduate students. Previous to moving to Portland, I served as the Dean of the College of Public Affairs at the University of Baltimore and have made the trek from east to west to join you. I want you to know that quality learning and student academic success are important values to me and are areas to which I will pay particular attention as part of my leadership in CUPA. I am invested in your success. During the upcoming school year, I shall convene informal meetings with undergraduate students where I hope to learn about the issues, challenges and opportunities at PSU that affect successful undergraduate education for students enrolled in CUPA majors and related programs. I hope that you will be able to attend such a gathering at some point starting in the fall term. Also, I hope that if you have not already have not done so that you will soon register for fall classes. Our undergraduate degree programs in Criminology & Criminal Justice, Political Science, Community Development, and Health Studies, as well as our minors and certificate programs, have organized a strong set of course offerings for the Fall Term. In order to secure seats in the fall courses that pique your interest and/or that you need to earn a degree, I urge you to register as soon as possible. I look forward to learning more about undergraduate student life at PSU over the next year. Best wishes for the summer! Sincerely, Stephen L. Percy Dean and Professor of Political Science College of Urban and Public Affairs
