Dear Cap Jazz Students, There were only 30 people at the open Frisell rehearsal this evening. I dont get it. There should have been over 100 students there. WHERE THE HECK WERE THE REST OF YOU? Many of you clearly need to re-assess your priorities. I doubt VERY much that you were doing something more important than hearing and watching Bill Frisell rehearse incredible music with Brad Turner and the rest of the band. I understand there was one instructor who held a class during this time when there should have been no class. That should not have happened and this issue has now been addressed. EVERYONE should be at the open rehearsal tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 unless you have had a death in the family or are about to die yourself. There will be no Jazz Studies classes during that time. Do your homework later. Bill Coon and I had a profound musical and educational experience, as did a handful of your peers. I was moved to tears several times by the beauty of Frisells playing and writing. If you werent there, you missed out on something really special. What a shame. Sorry for the heavy trip, but this is serious.
