Dear Charles, I want to share a great victory with you! In a case - TopicsExpress

Dear Charles, I want to share a great victory with you! In a case originally filed by Common Cause and other groups, the U.S. Supreme Court today ruled in support of voter access and against states adding burdensome paperwork requirements to register to vote. The high court, in the case Arizona v. ITCA, upheld federal law that set a national standard for voter registration. The court rejected Arizona’s effort to require prospective voters to produce additional citizenship documentation beyond what is required by the National Voter Registration Act. This is a major victory for American voters, and Common Cause is proud of its work and involvement in this case. This is the kind of work we could not do without your support! And this is the kind of work we do year-in and year-out, not just during election cycles. This decision will help safeguard the voter registration process from the kind of political manipulation we’ve seen far too much of lately in many states. It will also help block attempts in the states to restrict the right to vote. Join us in celebrating this victory today by making sure you are registered to vote, and urging a friend to register. Thanks for all you do, Jenny Flanagan Director of Voting and Elections
