Dear Charles and Mitchel, It is with a joyous if also - TopicsExpress

Dear Charles and Mitchel, It is with a joyous if also exhausted heart that I write now to report my service in the Grading War is, blessedly once again, done. I fired my last shot, regrettably and at best half-heartedly, across the wretched trenches of our comrades and our Opposition, on this very morn at 11:55am. With the echo of that shot still in my ear, I laid down my weapon and with it, the protracted aggravation of my Soul. There is nothing left to be done now but to assemble the quick and the dead for accounting. They will all be mercilessly, even if also ruthlessly, folded into faceless tables of measures, of which the resulting calculative information will only serve, I suspect, to betray the idiosyncratically noble service of each. Nevertheless, as in all wars, all of which demand accounting, the variant Accomplishments and Failures will be recorded for posterity. I wish, above all, that I was not a party to such Accounting. Allow me to go on the record here, with you my friends if with no other, as testifying once more to the moral and intellectual paucity of our Accounts, necessary as we are told they are but which as far as I have been able to surmise only fan the flames of this Grading War, only diminish that which we endeavor to cultivate in the Opposition, and only reinforce my utter and sincere disregard for the Grading War at all. Full stop. As strong as my friendship is with you, it is weak in comparison with my desire to never be called upon again to write you under these conditions. With that, I trust and hope you are home, are well, and I remain as ever Your Friend, Leigh M. Jonson #GradingWarLetterstoHome
