Dear Colleagues, Whether this is a covert operation or a wishful floating to see what may transpire or a Government Organised Non Governmental Organisation/GONGO in between cocktail; none-the-less; the intrinsic value I believe should not be dismissed, but nurtured. If others have other priorities fine; but below I give an outline of what I consider merits of an effort if some have time, money or connections. If jobs follow or other small sole traders get car boot or other associated link value - why not? That is community-together-links at its best, people helping each other and working at a practical something. Introversion and efforts to make transport a closed shop of dedicated professionals has the draw back that everyone is expected to use them or join a gridlock queue and associated costs one way or another, which do not do justice to mobility/access and lawful engagement made as easy and yet ecologically responsible as possible. You can find more at: https://groups.yahoo/neo/groups/Dunstable_Railway_Centre/info and make your own mind up. For some reason I cannot get yahoo to link it currently. So cut and paste into your browser if you wish. Hello, Whilst I appreciate what Chris is saying as intrinsically real enough; none-the-less the bigger picture is, as per my visit yesterday to Church Street Bridge Dunstable: 1. After £90 million - rough stony surface for cycle track - some have said it should be a smooth surface to avoid costs to cyclists of punctures! But that can be slewed for a non Network rail standard railway incremental re-lay. How far can you get? Only way is incremental and make a start where you may! Too many have been dissuaded at this point. It may be if a back-foot/rear-guard action - some barriers which I have faced over the years, may be waived - so you may get x or y or z... like a pitch at a local railway station or ASDA! 2. Congestion is as bad as ever, whist less than full buses ply the Busway intermittently - no freight can be carried, gridlock affects distribution costs. 3. A preservation foothold however posture; is still a right-start and whilst hind-sight is a wonderful thing, alongside any campaigns, if such had of been done earlier in latter times; we may not be where we are. 4. It maybe, the site or base is a shop in one empty spot somewhere and a small gesture track with a coffee shop and sales on a bit of track with a Mott MacDonald temporary but DDA compliant (for some banner advertising) set up for example or any other - Easy-Peasy jets too?. 5. It may be that going West from the Council Depot if they are on-side/can be courted with Dunstable T.C. as well - and edge of Stanbridge with Tottenhoe and the many panoramic views of the downs, stone historic sites and walks with two main trunk roads and parking (another revenue stream if can be achieved) - it would morph that Guided Busway is out of Luton and a Bus Lane is in and the rest told to use trunk road only or support re-ailing quicker! I applaud any effort to get progress made. Thank you. Richard Pill A BRTA Member. Ps. My offer to meet for a coffee and chat remains.
