Dear Colleagues and Friends, In response to the recent attacks - TopicsExpress

Dear Colleagues and Friends, In response to the recent attacks on me personally, please be assured of the following: My entire 29 year career, including 19 years in Ocean View, has been focused on the education, safety and well-being of children. Along with my husband’s 30 year career in the fire service, we both have dedicated our work to the education and the safety of kids and the communities we serve. I will not be bullied and intimidated by unethical Board members and the Union-coordinated attacks by CTA advocate Monica Mora. I am a cancer survivor, my husband is a cancer survivor and I have lost my brother and mother at very young ages to cancer so I know very well what environmental risks we all face every day; especially our children. I have never made a single decision that would place any individual, much less a child, at risk. As you may not know, I was appointed to my current position in mid-July after a competitive and extensive application and examination process. ALL of the current construction projects were contracted, the scope of work approved, schedules were reviewed and projects, which included abatement, were well underway prior to me taking this position. In fact, the Architectural/Engineering and Construction Management contracts were awarded and Board approved with a 5-0 vote in January 2013! The entire project was proudly implemented and overseen by our Superintendent in effort to complete $38M dollars in improvements to our schools. Two board members have continued to oppose me personally and have attacked me publicly on every topic since my appointment. Again, I will not tolerate the bullying and the unethical political tactics used by Board members; I will no longer stay silent while being slandered and harassed by the OVTA Executive Board and Monica Mora; and I will not allow these self-serving individuals to continue to destroy the basic premise of integrity and quality education on which this district has operated. I despise the “mob-behavior” that they encourage. And the millions of dollars that will be spent to clean up this political mess will come out of the pockets of our employees and programs for our children. I thank you for the hundreds of emails, phone calls, text messages, words of encouragement and support I have received from you over the last 10 days. I will continue to be guided, proudly, by my moral compass that points in the direction of ethical decisions for our children and our community. And I am not backing down.
