Dear Community Member, Three years ago, the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors created Coahoma County Youth Outreach and Enrichment. We are an Recreation advisory created to help oversee the creation of a comprehensive youth recreation and after-school program that will serve all children of Coahoma County. Coahoma Youth Outreach and Enrichment Board consists of 10 members with two members from each district. We believe that all children, regardless of their economic circumstances or social standing, deserve the opportunity to explore their interests whether it be on the athletic field, art studio, or in the classroom. However to accomplish these goals, Clarksdale and the residents of Coahoma County must unite behind the future of our community and our children. I am writing you today asking for your support of our proposed recreation center. When the Outreach Board was created, we developed a plan, approved by the Board of Supervisors, to study the feasibility of the construction of a recreation center or the development of an existing facility to accommodate recreation. After 18 months of implementing recreation and enrichment programs, we realized that without having our own facility implementing these programs is impossible. In 2012, a site committee was appointed to evaluate existing facilities and sites available for the use of such a facility. In the upcoming months, a proposal will be presented to the Board of Supervisors requesting funding for a recreation a center that will provide services and programs to the people of Coahoma County. This center will contain an aquatics center, wellness center, classroom space, gymnasium, and athletic facilities that will be utilized by people of all ages. We believe that this proposed complex will benefit our community by reducing crime and giving our citizens a safe, inviting place in which to grow individually and as a whole. We need your support! We simply ask that you write a letter stating that you support these efforts to create a recreation center to serve all citizens of Coahoma County, both young and old. These letters will be presented to the Board of Supervisors in July when the final recommendation is made to the Board of Supervisors. For more information or to see a list of upcoming events, please contact Director Ben Earnest at (662)645-5703 or visit our website at coahomaoutreach.weebly. Please mail letters of support to P.O. Box 579 Clarksdale, MS 38614 or email to coahomayouthoutreach@gmail Thank you for your support, Benjamin Earnest Director, Coahoma County Youth Outreach
