Dear Comrades, The Congregation election has been fixed for March 19th, 2014 and Dr Emmanuel Akarah (Don Spino) seeks your mandates through your votes as your representative (Academics) to the Delta State University, Abraka Governing Council. That he seek your mandate is not an issue for rhetorics but predicated on the premise that, on the job satisfaction should be a compensation for honest hard work. Workers welfare, promotions and improved conditions of service as enshrined in the Delta State University Regulations are issues that should always be on the front burner. There is no gain saying the fact that the only way to be motivated on the job and indeed upon retirement after some years of diligent service is to enjoy improved conditions of service and staff welfare. We have no doubt in times past made some giant strides in these regards, but we need to do better to improve our lots through proper representation. These and other burning issues as would arise from time to time need proper presentations as, it is in our hands to emancipate ourselves by defining ourselves and accepting that our destiny is in our hands. We have had about claims of maturity and experience by some persons. The fact remains that no one person is born with these attributes but they rather come with time and responsibilities. No doubt, his administrative responsibilities as Deputy Director of Pre Degree and the Center for Continuing Education, Acting Head of the Physical & Health Education Department as well as other various positions held have prepared him for this role in Council. It would not be out of place to mention that only Professors have the platform of the Universitys Senate to vie for positions in Council whereas, they are not the only ones that constitute Senate. The Congregation becomes the only place where the interests of non professors can be canvassed and presented in Council. This can only come to fruition if one of their kind represents them. This is where we can use what we have to get what we want and it becomes part of the basis for him to get your votes. VOTE WISELY! VOTE DR EMMANUEL AKARAH! HE HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY PROGRESSIVE, TESTED AND PROVEN. ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE.
