Dear Corcoran Arts Students, The mission of the SW ArtsFest board is to support the neighborhood arts fair and to promote the festival, and enlighten the city of the re-emerging, Southwest Waterfront in Washington, D.C. The festival board members organize The Central Art Market, merge our local festival producers, and unearth local artist to exhibit their works. This year our 2013 theme is “Breaking New Ground”. Items on the agenda will showcase the arts and crafts, present a film festival, church musicals, folk concerts, flea markets, walking tours, delicious cultural foods (to include our fresh vegetable gardens) and fun for all, at the “Parade of Decorated Bicycles”, as we celebrate new art flair in SW. SW ArtsFest will celebrate its third year with, Arena Stage hand dancers, the Jazz Preservation 12th Concert, Blues music and arts and crafts on the Wharf. Beyond doubt we are delighted to announce the opening of our new Southwest Arts Center and the G40 Art Summit produced by Art Whino which will be an enormous group show with over 300 pieces of art on exhibit. The SW ArtsFest board is thrilled to invite community artist and friends of Southwest from all over the Washington DC Metro area to join us for a fun filled day festival on Saturday September 28th 2013.
