Dear Customer, Just as we are bringing 2014 to a close we would like to thank you for the wonderful support you have given to our Cycle against Suicide project. It has been a fantastic year for Cycle against Suicide, for us in Outrage, for our loyal customers and for all our retail friends. The opportunity to team up with such a wonderful initiative was amazing and so very humbling. Cycle against suicide gave everyone involved in Outrage the chance to endorse a campaign that was very close to all Irish people’s hearts. The opportunity to promote the 2014 cycle in conjunction with our Outrage brand was so exciting. This was the biggest and best Cycle yet, including Northern Ireland for the first time. We all contributed to its huge success and it is something that we can all look back on with pride. Awareness was always our primary motivation but along the way we also collectively raised €27,500.00. What an amazing achievement! Our donation was predominantly spent on the Student leader’s congress which we were delighted to play a key role in facilitating. This inaugural congress was held in the RDS and over 4000 secondary school students from 130 secondary schools attended the daylong event. The core aim of the Student Leaders Congress is to promote positive mental health, help-seeking behaviour in young people and the core message that its OK not to feel OK; and its absolutely OK to ask for help. The Congress was student-led and a large portion of the day involved students: discussing projects they have engaged with, providing entertainment, conducting peer interviews and interacting with a range of mental health organisations exhibiting on the day signposting students in the direction of where that critical help is available. Some the people who spoke at the event were Brent Pope, Conor Cusack, Rob Carley, Bressie, Ellie (The Heathers), Niamh Briggs, Jim Breen, Alan O’Meara, Paul Walsh ( Royseven) and Finbarr Walsh ( Donal Walsh’s Dad). It was a fantastic event and enlightening to see young people embrace mental health in such an open way in stark contrast to the way previous generations have. Tús maith, leath na h-oibre. What a privilege for us to be part of this. As you know the Cycle is a mammoth task and the remainder of our collective contribution helped to lessen the financial burden associated with it. While everyone supported our initiative with heart and a half, we always felt that we could do this only once. We also felt strongly that we could not take advantage of this goodwill and generosity. While we are not actively campaigning in the New Year we are taking part in the Cycle and if you have not taken part already we would encourage you to give it a go in 2015. It can be life changing; the positive energy has to be experienced to believe it. Thank you for contributing so wholeheartedly to the wonderfully successful campaign that was the 2014 cycle. “The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better.” Robert F Kennedy. We wish you all a very happy and healthy Christmas. Mel Mc Morrow
