Dear Disconnected White People, You often say that you cant SEE what Im saying when i talk about my struggle being a Black member if american society. You havent seen what I am trying to say because you are not LISTENING. While Im talking about my pain (to hell with trying to be a victim) folks like you are steady trying to find a solution to my problem. What those with white privilege lack is the ability to take an empathetic approach. Acknowledge and listen. Dont assume that a person has a problem that needs solving because theyre talking about it. Perhaps they just want to put it out into the ether and they have trusted your ears and your heart to simply listen and care. Give it a shot. Try to just say I hear you instead of saying what about this...? and what about that...? and why arent you doing something about...? Love, Your color-full friend
