Dear Duchenne Parents, I know that some of your children are having anger issues, and there are no age limitations. When I was a teenager, I had the same. I didn’t necessarily hate the world, but was incredibly mad that I had this disease, and who could blame us? Anger is normal. It’s simply a phase you go through, and everyone deals differently. My parents let me be, but gave no special treatment. However, as a child, Grandpa always taught my sister and I to say thank you, and eventually, I remembered gratitude again. I had to learn on my own and overcome by myself. You see there’s no such thing as a wrong emotion when all of us have a right to our feelings. Life is all about balance, and freedom is everything. They will learn to control it like the rest of us. Have faith and just be there for them.
