Dear Editor, This is in response to your editorial about Jahi McMath. This same fiasco has happened to many families, including mine. The government passed a law,UDDA ACT of 1981, while we were unaware. Most do not find out about this law until tragedy strikes, then it is too late. Many because of the propaganda machine of organ donation, and because of their trust in doctors will not even question the validity of this law. They will either let the doctor finish off their relatives by disconnecting them from the vent or by killing them from dissecting their organs out of them. Either way because of this law, they do not have a choice, their family member will be killed because of this law. This law gives the doctor the authority to determine a living person is dead, in search of organs. Then if they do not get the organs they will deny them medical treatment. But me, Jahi moms, and others did not buy into this diagnosis. We just knew something was wrong. So we questioned the authority of the doctors and began to fight back. Running around the hospital trying to find help, but all we found was hostility to us. All of us had to watch as we were told that our living loved ones were dead and that the doctor legally could not give them any treatment. Many have watched their loved ones suffocate as their life source was disconnected from them. I watch my daughter slowly die in pain and suffering. Later I found out that her blood volume was so low, that she was anemic, she was dehydrated, starved and she was in pain. After six days she had a heart attack, not because she was brain injured, but because she was denied treatment that resulted in anemia, dehydration, in pain, and starved. My daughter was killed in a hospital because she was denied treatment. Many people have been killed in hospitals by doctors, either through dissection of organs, disconnection of the ventilator or the withholding of treatment. But some like the race car driver will get all the care in the world. why? Carolyn Melissa’s Mom
