Dear Facebook Friends, Not so long ago I posted a status saying that I was wanting a break from Facebook for awhile. Well since then I have decided to cancel my face book page all together. I have had a very interesting Facebook journey over the last two and a half years, and prior Facebook I had never turned on a computer before and had any idea of the social net work available at your finger tips. My Facebook became global over night pretty much and I was so amazed initially at the communication and interaction that could be made globally. During my Facebook adventure I have had many wonderful discussions, and at times have almost felt that I have met some of you personally. I have prayed, cried, laughed and for most part enjoyed my contacts. Recently however, I have become increasing aware of the posts and it seems peoples desensitization to the horrors of this world and what is going on around us. I have become extremely distressed with what I see Im frightened and grieved deeply. A few days ago I witness live footage of a man being mauled by a tiger which was so horrific it has left me traumatized. The situation in the Middle East and the footage that is coming out of there has left me numb and so sorrowful to my core. Ignoring it felt like a crime and yet watching it was a violation to my soul. There are other awful posts too but it is just highlighting for me the state our world is rapidly moving in and as distressing as it is my mind can not cope with the visual and horror. Admittedly, there are many many lovely posts. But all in all, I do not need to be zapped of my energy and consumed with watching my iPad screen when there is real life to be doing. I have had a mighty huge season on Facebook. And it has been an amazing tool to read your stories, pray with you, love lavishly, give to the needy and be an encourager and be encouraged myself. Im also thankful to Facebook because I have had wonderful opportunities to catch up with long lost friends and meet them face to face here in Victoria. Many of you through my journey have my email address (if you do not and would like it, please do not hesitate to inbox me so I can give it to you) and I am more than happy to communicate through those means, and many of you have my telephone number too. Please know that I am contactable these ways. I shall leave my Facebook page open for another few days incase some of my close buddies have not had a chance to read this, but in a few days it will be gone. As I conclude this letter, I wish all of you the very best in your journeys of life. May you all find the truth you are searching for, the love that you need and the hope for a bright future.
