Dear Facebook friends and family, I recently posted that it is better to post ones joy rather than ones problems but I have a problem for which I wish to elicit help. My wife and I have been dealing with an issue of false accusations of felony charges thru the court. I involves my wifes former employer accusing her of computer tampering and theft. After passing a polygraph test, we thought this would go away. The lawyer we had hired insisted we go to trial. They estimate it would be a 5-day trial. We have depleted my 401k and have been making substantial payments, most months, to feed the attorney. Now the attorney wishes to have an additional $21,000. We simply do not have the resources. That attorney has withdrawn due to inability to pay. We had applied to the public defender. They turned us down. We now have to face the judge and tell him how we plan to proceed. I am at a loss as to which direction to take. We have spoken to several lawyers, all of which need a substantial amount to represent us. The most promising one, out of Durango, wants half of her $10-25K retainer to agree to a trial date and the rest paid by trial. My wife faces prison time for something she has not done. There are several suspects that have could have done this but because my wife is no longer there, she has been thrown under the bus (she left on good terms). We are asking for help in raising the funds to hire counsel, or if anyone has information on an attorney who does Pro Bono cases please let me know. It will be very difficult to represent ourselves.
