Dear Fellow Singaporeans and Friends, After a week since news broke out that AM, a company that pays their people salary drawn from tears and broken family but whom do not want their spouses as members of their own business, the support from 25,400 Singaporeans and Friends from 45 countries on FB, 2,800 signatures from Singaporeans based in 22 countries, have made a united voice to mark a stamp of disapproval against the entry of this company into our homeland. Minister for MSF, Mr Chan, have spoken out firmly and clearly on his stand that he does not welcome AM into Singapore and once again we appreciate his leadership on upholding the interest of Singaporeans and our families. MDA has commented in the press and written to us on 29th Oct13 with the reply Thank you for your views on the matter. MDA’s content regulatory framework is premised on community standards and social norms, and we will take your feedback into account when evaluating the site, if it decides to offer its service to Singapore. We remain optimistic and believe that though the statement is vague that leaves gaps for the possibilities of inactions, MDA will take the right course of action when the situation arise to protect the interest of Singapore. While we are aware that such a campaign will: 1) inevitably generate an increase in curious traffic to AMs site and fuel their traffic and pride (please stop visiting their site) 2) not be able to eradicate AMs attempts to slip pass the service providers firewall (should MDA decide to make a firm stand and action) 3) not prevent people from straying to the other vices that are already existing in Singapore. We, and 99% of the responses and feedback here still strongly believe we would rather put this in the light to create awareness, social condemnation, and maximum digital protection, and that if the 0.1% are still willing to go the extra mile to receive AM, it will not be our call to judge nor manage their lifestyle but we would have saved many others. One of your comment against a detractor was Since dust is bound to settle on our tables daily, how long and how much can we clean anyway? So are we saying that we should stop cleaning our tables? We think this is a good summary, life is a journey, there is always a tension between the light and the dark, if we choose to stay status quo, we will simply experience a natural decay. We can also use the upward-moving escalator as an analogy, if we remain stationary, the machine is bound to move you down, and so it is an ongoing effort to even remain at the current standards, let alone progress as a nation, a family and an individual. This campaign isnt complex to some, but it has been an eye-opening and challenging one for inexperienced people like us, called to action only because we believe in this cause. But we cant express enough gratefulness to the countrys leadership, media and most importantly, each and everyone of you here, because without you, this campaign wouldnt have induced such rapid and strong responses. Having spilled over into the news of many other countries especially those that AM and relevant businesses are thriving, we hope that this will inspire their citizens to believe that there is hope and that they too can take actions to protect their fellow citizens from further exploitation. I would like to apologise to some of you whom: a) we were unable to reply to your questions directly as we have a little overwhelmed. b) For those whom have requested for our information, we apologise as we feel that this campaign is about the voice of the masses and not us. c) For enterprising partners whom have offered us their mobile apps platform to reach out to more people by us giving them details of our supporters, we apologise that we cant do so as its unethical to share as it breaches the trust of the public. It has been an honour partnering you, we will be submitting the petition to the PMO and respect the space and time needed by the authorities to do their jobs, and stand down on this campaign while keeping this FB page dormant and maintained on a periodic basis, ready to spring up again to connect with each and everyone of you when the needs arises for your leadership and voice.
