Dear Friends, As many of you know, I announced my candidacy for a Circuit Court Judge position in the 12th Judicial Circuit of Florida. The Honorable Marc Gilner will be retiring after a distinguished career, and I am seeking his vacated position on the bench in the August 26, 2014 election in Sarasota, Manatee, and Desoto counties. I am grateful to have this opportunity to pursue a life-long dream. I have been fortunate that my path in life has given me tremendous opportunities to work with inspiring leaders while serving our community and our country. At present, I am a Felony Division Chief at the State Attorney’s Office and have worked for the State of Florida for 20 years. During that time, I have been both a prosecutor and a defense attorney. I am also a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve and have been assigned to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps during my entire military career. In that capacity, I have acted as both a prosecutor and defense counsel in military courts throughout the United States. I have traveled far and near, served at the Pentagon, and worked side-by-side with the members and leaders of our armed forces for decades. It has been a great honor and privilege to serve with the men and women who contribute to the safety and security of our nation. With the aid of an Air Force ROTC scholarship, I attended the University of Notre Dame where I earned my undergraduate degree in accounting and graduated with honors. I received my Juris Doctor from Albany Law School, where I also graduated with honors in the top 4% of my law school class. I then went on to earn my LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law. The diversity of my education, experience, and training have enriched and defined my life. I have been profoundly touched by the lives of those I have served as a prosecutor for the State Attorney’s Office, as a defense attorney, as President of the Board of Directors for the Epilepsy Services of Southwest Florida, as a coach for Ringling Redskins Youth Football, and as a legal instructor at the Sarasota Criminal Justice Academy. As I move forward in my goal, I would be extremely honored and grateful if you will support my candidacy for Circuit Court Judge in the August 26th election.
