Dear Friends, As we begin the new month of August I wanted to take a moment to ask for your assistance. This time of the year is very special for me as I look forward to doing my part to help others by giving back. As I am reminded of my father’s love and generosity on his birthday month, I will continue to carry on his legacy as a very giving man. I always want to make sure that my company stands for more than just a dance competition. As many of you know when I started Tribute in 2011 I created 5-6-7-8 Donate as a way for me to give back and to help those in need. I know in my heart I am making a difference as I continue to receive letters from families, hospitals and charities sharing their appreciation. Tribute continues to grow each year and I am very humbled by the support of so many wonderful teachers and families. In 2014, Tribute had the honor of hosting over 3,500 performances in 9 weekends (for an average of 389 performances per weekend). If you look at the big picture many of the other competitions in the country today see thousands of performances in just a few weekends with the numerous events that they host. So in comparison my company is much smaller, yet I feel like I have accomplished so much more by keeping my events to a manageable size which allows me to be deeply involved and present at each event to show my appreciation. WITH THE SUPPORT THAT I HAVE RECEIVED, I WAS ABLE TO DONATE $6,000 TO 6 CHARITIES IN MY FIRST YEAR IN BUSINESS. IN MY SECOND YEAR, I DONATED $8,000 TO 9 CHARITIES. SO ON AUGUST 26, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN MY FATHER’S 70TH BIRTHDAY, I WILL BE DONATING $11,000 TO 11 CHARITIES. THIS WILL TAKE OUR DONATION TOTAL TO OVER $25,000 THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GIVE BACK OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS. As I prepare to make donations, I would like to once again ask for your help by giving me additional organizations or foundations to consider for donations. If you look at our website you will see the variety of organizations that I have given to over the last 2 years that help so many. You can post your suggestions here or send them via email to me at darin@tributetodance. This is a way to ask my friends to help me with my cause that I am very proud of. By adding organizations that I might not know of is even more special and your suggestions are very much appreciated. This year my family and I actually experienced one of the foundations I donated to. When we were in Chicago for my son Jonah’s heart procedure we stayed at The Ronald McDonald House. Needless to say that this gave me the opportunity to see firsthand what donations can do for families and it truly touched my heart. Seeing other families who had children in the hospital and how much they needed this home to provide for them during a very hard time in their lives. This was an experience that I will never forget. So for me personally, I know that every dollar counts when giving to organizations that help children and families. Thank you for your help and time in assisting me with selecting which organizations to donate to. Because of your support, Tribute continues to grow and I am so blessed and fortunate to be in a position to give back.
