Dear Friends, Many of you may know that I am the Chapter Director for the Minneapolis Chapter of Flashes of Hope. Flashes of Hope is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating powerful, uplifting portraits of children fighting cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The photographs, taken by award winning photographers, help children feel better about their changing appearance by celebrating it. And for families of terminally ill children, it is especially important to have a portrait that forever preserves the bravery, grace and dignity of their child. Every month volunteer photographers and makeup artists will transform a conference room in Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis into a portrait studio. Children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life threatening illnesses are invited to participate in the photo session. They may be photographed with family, friends or even their favorite nurse. Each family is presented with two 8 x 10 photographs framed in a leather case, a set of 4 X 6 proofs and a CD of all images. These packages are provided to the families at no charge. We will be volunteering our time to coordinate the photo shoots, prepare portrait packages and deliver them to the families. Since the portrait packages are provided free of charge to the families, Flashes of Hope relies on donations to fund the cost of providing these services. A donation of only $25 covers the cost of providing a portrait package to a family. A $250 donation funds an entire portrait session. Once a donation is received, a receipt for tax deduction will be sent to you directly. Our goal is to raise $2,500+ each year for our chapter.
