Dear Friends, My name is Gary Hobbs and I writing to you - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, My name is Gary Hobbs and I writing to you regarding a tragic event that recently happened to my partner, Kasia. On the 11th of January, 2014, we went into the Lister Hospital, Stevenage for Kasia to have a routine induction and give birth to our first child. In the early hours of January 12, she suffered a massive bleed (haemorrhagic stroke) on the right side of her brain. She was transferred, immediately to Addenbrookes Hospital, where she had an emergency caesarean section and life-saving brain surgery. The bleed has left Kasia with the devastating effects of paralysis in her left arm and leg and weakness in the left side of her face. Furthermore, she has a mild left-sided neglect, reduced perceptual awareness and reduced short-term memory. At only 35 years of age, Im sure you can appreciate how crushing this is for her. Thankfully, our baby is fine and in good health. However, Kasia misses her dearly and this psychological stress only accentuates her physical ailments. Currently, Kasia is having rehabilitation in a London NHS hospital and she is likely to stay in there for a further three months before returning home to our daughter and I. This stage of her rehabilitation will be important but when she returns home, she will need further therapy, which will have to be paid for privately. The reason for the continued treatment is because it is clearly stated in all of the research papers I have read, that continuing rehabilitation for at least one year after the stroke, will significantly improve her recovery. Furthermore, it will prevent her from losing the gains she makes during the 3 months in London and help her to relearn all of the functions she has lost due to the stroke. The private costs of all the different therapies she will need to have amounts to just over £30,000. This is based on Kasia having therapy six days per week for 6-7 months. These costs are obviously significant and this is where I am hoping you can help! I am saving every penny possible, as well as taking a second Saturday job to try to meet these costs. However, based on my calculations and even with these measures, I will ultimately fall short of raising the money needed for her rehabilitation by a considerable margin. Therefore, please may I ask you to distribute this letter amongst your students and ask if they are in a position to contribute to her rehabilitation fund. Any amount of money raised would be helpful and used for an excellent cause. My primary goal is to get Kasia home and help her to get her independence back, so that she can look after our daughter without the help of other people. I cannot over exaggerate the importance of getting her back to good health. This is our only chance of having a baby, as if she were to get pregnant again, the doctors have said that she is likely to have another stroke. We have one chance at enjoying our baby and your money would help us to achieve that dream. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated and rest assured that your money will be used solely for her rehabilitation. I hope you understand that it is very difficult for me to ask for this help but I do not have any other choice. I know I ask a lot and hope that this request does not offend you in any way. If you can help us, then I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you cannot, then I thank you for taking the time to read this letter. Either way, I hope that my asking does not cause you any discomfort. Your generosity will not be forgotten and any contribution you can make is of significant importance to our family. This on-going therapy will be vital in Kasias recovery and your help will make all the difference. I thank you all for your help! Your faithfully, Gary Hobbs To all Qi kwan do students and instructors and their familys I would appreciate if all of us could try and raise some money to try and help mr Hobbs at this very difficult time. Any donation can help so please contact grand master Parisi many thanks Reply Reply all Forward -- Sent from Gmail Mobile
