Dear Friends, Please come along on November 18, to the first ever contemporary documentary photo exhibition/auction, that will take place in the “Pobeda” gallery in central Moscow. This is a unique event, not only for collectors, but also for all admirers of photography. The auction will include 45 works by famous authors, whose works are displayed in top world class museums and private collections. Among them are works by Rena Effendi, Sergey Maximishin, Yuri Kozyrev, Alexander Gronsky, Vladimir Vyatkin, and other famous photographers that work with leading artistic galleries and mass media organisations. The opening work of the exhibition will by a work from the world famous series called “Photo 51”: “Is corruption part of Russia’s DNA?” by Mikhail Friedman. Other works will include extracts from the prize winning series by Yuri Kozerev called “On Revolution Road”, which received the Visa d’or News in 2011; the work “Trees” by Fyodor Savintsev - which won the IPA in 2012 in the “Nature” category; the photograph on pagan culture of the Mari El republic by photographer Tatyana Plotnikova - which became one of the most promising world photographers after this series, according to the international magazine Photo District News; and the famous pictures of Sergey Maximishin. The photographers will be united for the first time for such a large-scale auction. Earlier the best representatives of Russian documentary photography were presented only by separate groups in auction of famous international and national platforms: Sotheby’s, Christie’s, and at the Russian Auction House. The unique aspect of the exhibition for the artistic galleries and collectors will be the limited “Museum” prints of 1-3 copies. Meanwhile, the wider public will be able to acquire modern photographs for a more accessible sum - with a starting price of 3,000 roubles. The money raised by the auction will be used to publish the book of photographs of Denis Sinyakov - which will include his material for leading world news agencies and other large-scale international and Russian media organisations. In this way, the photographers display their support for Denis Sinyakov, who is currently in prison. He is charged with hooliganism for his photography of the events at the “Prirazlomnaya” platform. The organisers hope that this event will become the beginning of a unification of independent photo-journalists of Russia. photographyauction.ru/
