Dear Friends, The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is personal for us. As some of you know, my brother Dick was diagnosed with ALS almost 3 years ago. Dick is an engineer, and a Lieutenant on his local fire department. He also competed in fireman competitions, ran marathons, and more until this cruel disease robbed him of his ability to continue. More importantly, Dick is a husband to his courageous wife Kris, a father to 4 children, a father-in-law, and most recently a grandfather to Chloe, who we welcomed into the family this year. You can watch Cindi and I getting wet and cold, and having some fun, by following this link. youtu.be/FZbsEAix4Bs We will be walking with Dick and our family in the Les Turner Foundation’s 13th annual ALS Walk 4 Life on September 21st in Chicago. The Les Turner Foundation funds two separate research labs dedicated exclusively to ALS at Northwestern University Medical School. It has also helped our family in so many other ways, with care and support for our family and countless other patients and families. We are making a blanket challenge to you to contribute to this cause in one or more of these ways: 1. Please invest 15 minutes learning a little more about ALS. There is a lot of information on Les Turner’s website (or explore in any other way you wish). lesturnerals.org/ 2. Take a look (or another look) at my brother Dick’s video of his wheel chair fire engine. It’s funny (crazy), educational and heartfelt, and has had nearly 20,000 views so far. https://youtube/watch?v=1_1labt-eVQ 3. Support our efforts to raise money on September 21st for the ALS Walk 4 Life. Our team is the Jake Walkers. Dick is our team captain. alswalkforlife.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=1097102&lis=1&kn tae1097102=4A8B323184FF4FA4B14F001446C5A659&supId=349612569 4. Share this widely. Thanks as always for your support and kindness. Sid & Cindi
