Dear Friends! There comes a day, when a person decides he - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends! There comes a day, when a person decides he can’t, with a clear conscience, stand on the sidelines of human suffering and do nothing. That day has come for me. Perhaps its my upbringing in a socialist community (kibbutz), or maybe the last 13 years of traveling, which took me through many impoverish countries across the globe, But the thing that has always disturbed me the most, is the lack of equality amongst our human family. I Believe that in order for me to achieve the greatest impact in this matter, the first step, is raising our collective awareness to the subject. It’s time to confront the planet’s poor, face-to-face. Since we spend a lot of time in front of TV/computer screens, I chose to try and create a TV/web series, which will expose to a large amount of prosperous people, the much larger amount of destitute people whom we, as a global tribe, allow to go hungry, sick, in fear of war and violence, and in need of help. I don’t intend to make anyone send cans of food to Africa, donate any money to charity or feel guilty in any way. (Unless you happen to be one of the planet’s 2,170 billionaires, in which case, shame on you!) No. All I want to do is raise the global awareness to the dire state of inequality on our planet. I believe that once our collective awareness rises high enough, then the solutions will present themselves. I present to you a Pilot for a TV/Web series, which I call: $10 a day. Based on the disturbing statistic, that 80% of the world’s population lives on less than $10 a day. (20% live on less than $1 a day, but that’s for a different show…) I took my friend Ryan, who never held a camera before, and we left on a 7-day journey through Indonesia, filming and speaking with the people, trying to eat, sleep and travel over 400 miles (700km) with a budget of $10 a day. This is a travel documentary that provides a glimpse into the grim reality of poverty. I hope you enjoy these videos. I hope that you forward them to your friends. I hope that somewhere down the line, someone will agree to make a TV show based on this concept, because there are many other countries that suffer from extreme poverty, and many people who need to understand the awful inequality, which is growing around us. I would love to hear any comments, criticism or ideas on how to make this a TV show, but mostly, just enjoy and be thankful this show isn’t about your life… Love to all Shelach The links: Day1: https://youtube/watch?v=106Jlx2o4q4 Day2: https://youtube/watch?v=ID6nIIMBpy8 Day3: https://youtube/watch?v=XCX0rrM6KJ4 Day4: https://youtube/watch?v=Io8WSOPFf4Q Day5: https://youtube/watch?v=CP8r-VDNnc8 Day6: https://youtube/watch?v=KVVkanMDOVs Day7: https://youtube/watch?v=rZZ2Dd4_EBk Shelach Vardi
