Dear Friends, There comes a time in everyones life when they find themselves asking questions like, What do I really need?, What do I really want to do with my life?, What is most important in my life? Over the past few months I have been asking myself those very tough questions. The most important things in my life are my family & friends and being able to create, design and overall play with my fiber! I find, however, that the things that matter most to me are always being put on the back burner. I just dont seem to have time to visit people or spend enough time on my home and myself. Today we lost another classmate from high school. The third person in a month my age. It makes one really start to take stock of their life. So I have made some important decisions about my future. First I am adding onto my studio (old shop) at home. The new space will be big enough to do all my fiber activities. It will also have a nice size room to hold classes if I want. This is not a space where I will be moving the shop to. I will be closing my retail space in Pittsfield. I want to be clear there are no problems between Melanie and I, in fact she is very supportive of my decision. Quiltessentials will remain open. She will continue to carry my hand-dyed wools. I will be having an inventory reduction sale with the closing happening before I return to school in August. More details of that will come in another email. I know I have told many people that I wanted to retire and run the shop but life doesnt always happen the way we want it to. At this time I will remain in my teaching job. I am looking forward to working in my new space. I will maintain an online presence with my website and online store as well as my etsy store. I will provide all that information when the time comes. In the mean time I hope you will support our Summer Lecture series. The first one will be June 27th. It will focus on a group that has been studying older quilts (more information to come on that). So save that date! I want to thank all the people who have supported me over the years whether in Centerville or Pittsfield. I have met some amazing people!
