Dear Friends, This past Monday, I joined Jacquelyn for her - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends, This past Monday, I joined Jacquelyn for her college orientation at Pittsburgh State. And while I have been to these orientations in the past with her brothers, I was struck by how this will be my last one. The admonitions from the college staff to parents that ‘your world has now changed,’ seemed more definite to me. Life changes. That does not diminish the memories from the past. But it does require a re-orientation of what to expect in the future. As children grow and begin to take their own place in the world, the role of parent must adapt as well. Paul had a similar experience when he became an apostle of Jesus Christ. It radically re-oriented his life from what it had once been to what was now possible. I’ll be looking at that this Sunday as I continue my sermon series from Galatians. The text will be Galatians 1:11-24 with the title, “Dying to Live.” Life changes. There is grace in that, especially when it comes to our relationship with God. Grace is transforming in our lives, and the result is a life with more possibilities than we would have dreamed before. How is your life changing? Is there some change you are avoiding? What would you have to let go of for that change to come? Change can be frightening and I know there are people who avoid change at all costs. Preferring the life they have come to expect over a life of new possibilities. Yet, God is continually seeking to transform and renew our lives; from offering forgiveness and mercy to unburden us from our past; to opening new possibilities for fulfillment and purpose in our lives. I hope to see you Sunday, Rusty Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School will meet on Tuesday, June 25th through Thursday, June 27th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Each evening begins in the Family Life Center with a kid friendly dinner and will conclude in the Sanctuary where children may be picked up.
