Dear Friends and Family: First Priority is going well with - TopicsExpress

Dear Friends and Family: First Priority is going well with just in the past week 11 students accepted Christ here in Knox County. That is 224 students saved this school year. All praise and glory to God! In my last letter to you I spoke of my June 23th – July 3rd trip to Nairobi, Kenya in Africa. So I wanted to give you a few updates. In just under three weeks we will be leaving! First we have had our culture training. This is to ensure we do not offend any traditions of the local people which would block the hearing of the gospel. We were blessed to be taught the culture by a young woman who lived there for a year and now is employed by University of the Cumberlands. Our course there have been challenges as well. Secondly, we are in a spiritual battle (the scripture assures us). Peter Abungu who is the director of First Priority Kenya and is a local person born and raised there has also encountered raised opposition by the enemy of our souls. I wont go into details, just please keep praying for us and the First Priority Kenya network. Thirdly, WOW is about all I can say about all of the small details that we have needed to address. I personally have never been out of the USA. I secured a passport earlier this year. Many things we take for granted everyday that we are in control of here, are out of our control when we travel abroad. Just this past week, I received my 5th vaccination. I have taken: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Tetanus, and recently had to travel to Lexington for a Yellow Fever Vaccine. Without a Yellow Fever vaccine and official certificate we could not enter Africa. Again just small things we were not expecting. I also have a prescription for Malaria medicine to take while there. The cost of these vaccines were not planned for as well. All of this reminds me God is in control and I am not! Below is a small portion of my original letter to you. Let it serve as a reminder of the ministry we will do there as a team. Just knowing that you will be praying will give me peace as I go to lead in an unfamiliar place. Our ministry target is primarily in the largest Slums in Nairobi and possibly the largest in Africa with nearly a million people. We will be involved in, as well as starting First Priority Clubs in the schools which are inside these slums. Our team will go into the homes in the Slums and minister to the families and also bless the families with food baskets. We will minister in the Juvenile Center where First Priority International continues to have a positive influence with the Gospel. Our team’s function at the Juvenile Center will assist the purity clubs for 800+ teenage girls. It will be a privilege to wash the feet of the people of Africa. Overall, this trip provides an opportunity to meet the physical and spiritual needs of a community that is desperately in need. More than anything, I value your prayers for our team, my leadership and those whose lives will be touched by God through us. I believe that God answers prayers, and I am asking you to pray for safety, good health, smooth travel, effective ministry and financial support. Beyond your prayers, if you are led to join me by financially supporting this mission, I would be grateful. As of today I have received $500 towards the $2500 it costs. A special thank you to those God has moved to give. If you would like to be part of this mission through your financial support, send a check to: First Priority Tri-County P.O. Box 435 Corbin, KY 40702. Please make your check payable to First Priority Tri-County and write Africa Trip on the memo line. OR If you would prefer to give online, just go to our website and click on the DONATE button, make sure and put Africa in memo. By the way, all contributions are tax deductible and all donations need to be mailed by Friday June 13th, 2014. Please also share with your church congregation. We need the prayers and if they feel lead a love offering would be wonderful as well. With gratitude & because they havent heard, Tim Bargo, First Priority Executive Director studentsreachstudents “We are funded solely through donations from individuals, civic groups, churches, and businesses.”
