Dear Friends and Parents of Stradbroke High School, Thank you for volunteering me to become your new Chairperson, a role of which I will fulfill to the best of my ability for the benefit of all the pupils and staff at the school. New Strategy. Firstly, I would like to propose a slightly different approach by now making EVERY parent and carer a Friend of the High School and that the Committee works on their behalf. With the new school email and text message systems coming on-line this should enable us to communicate more effectively to them and in doing so gain their full support. Updates Theres a lot happening at the moment so heres some updates and a few requests: The new outdoor bats and table tennis table are now in the Courtyard at the school. The new board games for library have also been delivered. The Outdoor table football table will arrive next week. Five pupils from the School Council are now visiting a factory in Ipswich this week with me to choose the recycled plastic outdoor furniture to be installed in the rear field. The money for Mr Gionis, has been allocated and he is already developing the ideas of the pupils building a crazy golf course and other lunchtime / after school activities. We have already increased the amount the The Giving Machine owes us - please keep promoting particularly before Xmas - thegivingmachine.co.uk/ New draft Friends Mission (To be agreed at the next meeting.) To support everyone at Stradbroke High School in any way we can, so it can become an outstanding academy for the pupils. A few dates: This Sat the 26th of Oct 10am - Jumble Sale / Blue Bag Collection at the High School (Being organised by the Malaga tour Parents.) 9th of November 9am - Scrap Metal collection being run by Sue. Please call 01379 384387 to book a collection. 21st of November 7pm - Our next Friends meeting in the IT centre next to the High School. Cakes and biscuits on me !!! 29th of November - Beat the teacher Quiz night (More details to follow shortly.) Some ideas for us to develop with the School Council for our 2014/15 fundraising plan. 100 Club - Introduce a new school fundraising lottery. Auction of Promises evenings. Race Nights. Jig Gig ! Stradbroke Festifull - increased involvement. High School show of some sort. etc etc A few requests - please. 1. Please can we all invite at least one extra person to our next meeting on the 21st of November. I suggest that they dont need to be all parents but could be grandparents, members of the community etc. 2. Can we also consider the following ideas and roles and see what you fancy taking on as a fundraising challenge as an individual or as a pair. New developing tasks, roles and ideas for the Friends: Giving Machine promotion - excellent opportunity to make free money. 100 Club - Establish and develop a school lottery - an excellent fundraiser for little or no effort. Another charity of the same size has made £14,000.00 through this !!! Review and increase our presence on the school website. Pyramid school PTA links and liaison - joint fundraising opportunities? etc Emerging Wish List opportunities. New maps for Duke of Ed Silver awards. Reduce congestion for pupils and improve first impressions of the food hall - by introducing new fold up tables. Increase the number of water fountains in the schools for use by pupils. Assist with funding for new IT net books / Food department equipment. More flood lights on astro.. More ideas on way from the School Council.. etc Social media and communication.
