Dear Friends of Mariposa Urban Market, As you know, we have been moving from our Washington location and have built a greenhouse out on our land at 1501 N. Soncy, Mariposa Community Land Trust. Mariposa is located about five minutes from Westgate Mall. We are also finishing up the building that will be our retail and classroom that will be the beginning of our market square. The square will include our production/ retail/ classroom facilities, greenhouses, courtyard community space, and coffee/ juice bar. Mariposa Urban Market will be opening our retail area on Oct. 21, 2013 and a grand reopening on November 23, 2013 just in time for Thanksgiving. We appreciate all of your support that you have given the market this year and we are excited to grow into our new facilities. Making this move and building these new facilities require that we raise capital. To do this we want to try a new way of crowd funding that we are calling Local Venture. We think that this can be an exciting way to bring innovative solutions and enterprise to Amarillo. This can be a way to bring in renewable energy companies, rainwater catchment installation companies, and even homestead construction companies. It can be an excellent way to fund a new local baker, or to help a talented neighbor get out from under a shade tree as a mechanic and into a shop. In this time of an unpredictable or unreliable global economy, it is imperative that we come together to strengthen our local economies and find more reasons to be a community.
