Dear Friends of the Morton House, Wow, allow us to pat ourselves on the back! Weve had an extremely productive and successful 2014! Our programming, which was anchored by the “Lost Benton Harbor” exhibit and book, brought a record number of visitors to the Morton House Museum, proving that our mission of being the “Home of Benton Harbor History” is right on track. In addition to the opening of the exhibit we also sponsored the Preservation Awards and held other events including a murder mystery, a cemetery tour, and walking tours of downtown Benton Harbor. We have been hard at work with the restoration of the exterior of the Morton House. As we near completion, we are challenged with one last hurdle – replacing the roof, which is at least 25-years old. As we approach this project, which we hope to do in the spring, we are seeking additional funding from a wide variety of sources and appealing, once again, to the generosity of our supporters. Any amount that you can give will support either the roof project or our operating expenses and will be much appreciated. And, thanks to the generosity of the Upton Foundation, any amount that you donate to us for the roof will be doubled by their matching grant of up to $10,000!
