Dear Fund Development Friends, heres a tip--I was totally flooded and turned off by Giving Tuesday emails. Of course, I love all your work--thats why you have my email in the first place. Giving Tuesday appears to be non-profit commercialism run amok. We did not co-opt Black Friday or Cyber Monday--consumerism co-opted us. There is one email that I read and almost responded to. The subject line was Thank you! The text opened with Dear Michael, We want to thank you for being a part of the Wooly family this year whether you made a donation, purchased tickets, or participated in a post-show discussion. . . Embedded in the thank-you email was a link to a list of all the current annual fund donors, a way to purchase tix for the upcoming performance (like all their emails) and a very subtly designed link to the donate webpage (A sentence said, Thank you for being some of the most supportive and engaged audiences. The word supportive was linked to the donate webpage, and the word engaged was linked to the pay-what-you-can tix page.)
