Dear Future Daughter (That will happen like, 7 years or something, not any time soon Im going to try taking care of a dog first and I have sloths to save and get a proper job and travel and treat myself to a trip Disney world without little ones around my legs.) 1) When you’re at some party or even just walking the street to go get coffee, and you notice some strange girl with blue hair and exorbitant large dark eyes, and shes smoking and hiding her hands in her long sleeves even though its July, just ask her about her day. I promise you, you won’t regret it. Often times you’ll find the strangest of people have the most captivating of stories to tell. Theyll change your life. 2) Please, never mistake desire for love. Love will engulf your soul, whilst desire will emerge as acid, slowly making it’s way through your veins, gradually burning you from the inside out. But - love that may feel like a burn but love puts a kiss on that wound and it doesnt end, ever. Its forever and its there and itll happen, maybe its happening - youll know, itll hit you. 3) No one is going to save you, anything you’ve read or heard otherwise is lies. They may help you on your journey of whatever you need saving of but you have to be your own hero, youre first. Always you, - always. 4) One day a boy is going to come along who’s touch feels like fire and who’s words taste like vanilla, when he leaves you, you will want to die. If you know anything at all, know that it is only temporary. Pain is only temporary and if someone goes theyre meant to go, the person who will stay are meant to stay and they will stay forever. Thats love and love will happen at the funniest time, in the weirdest way. It may happen when youre 5 when you have to be partners with the person you sit next to, it may happen when youre 10 and it doesnt hit you until youre 30 and you have to search from him all over the internet and all around just to find that person - youll find them. It may happen when youre 17 and you are so determined to give that cute guy that pancakes hes craving even if its past midnight and this is the first time meeting. Maybe it might even hit you when youre 40, after a divorce and a couple kids and the person you ran into at the grocery store for the first time is asking you for your number because that person just fell in love with you, or maybe youll be 60, maybe itll happen now and you wont know until next week or next year, but youll know sometime and hold onto it, but make sure its holding back. 5) Your mental health comes before school baby, always. If its midnight, and you have an exam the next day but your hands have been shaking for the past hour and a half and you’re not so sure you want to be alive anymore, pull out that carton of Ben and Jerry’s and afterwards, go to bed. Mama will cuddle you to bed and the next day, we can ditch school and work and drive out of town and window shop and treat ourselves, or if you wake up the next day and determine to take that test - so what if you get a 68% on the exam. You took care of yourself and at the end of the day that will always come before a high test score. To hell with anyone who tells you differently. Youre number one, youre my number one, and make sure you always feel like youre number one.
