Dear Green Party of NZ. Something very fascinating occurred in yesterdays Victorian State Election. 1. The Green Party vote stayed anchored to where it has been for the last few elections. ( I believe it Plateaued there as it has in NZ) 2. The Green Party brains trust not only finally accepted this was / is the case they did something very clever about it. They targeted winnable seats whilst ensuring that their party vote did not dilute. In Melbourne Central over 500,000 phone calls and tens of thousands of door-knocks by an army of volunteers won them their first ever Lower House seat with two more very likely after specials are counted. 3. NZ greens need to closely study this approach and mimic it for 2017. The fallacy of chasing a non attainable percentage of the vote will just keep you anchored to 11 % or thereabouts. Targeting seats with a tsunami of supporters and cash will give you electoral seats. Of course you will still need to ditch the Ego driven and electorally poisonous Norman as well.
