Dear H2Okies, We hope everyone is having a great summer and we have been hard at work training and preparing for the upcoming summer championships and academic year. We call Virginia Tech VTopia around here and it is for good reason! We are in a beautiful part of the country with mild weather, and a vibrant university community and surrounding college town. The Hokie Nation loves their sports teams and the H2Okies are no exception. We have been overwhelmed by well wishers after bringing home the mens ACC Championship trophy this past season and we know you can help us continue this incredible tradition of excellence we have created over the past 10 years in womens and mens swimming and diving. Here are some recent events that have happened with our team and student-athletes that you may not know: -Fiona Donnelly earned a birth on the Commonwealth Games team for her home country of Scotland and starts competition later this week. -Aaron Bell was recently named Associate Head Coach for our swim program. -Lucas Bureau, representing H2Okie Aquatics, posted lifetime bests in 4 events last weekend in a regional meet in Pittsburgh. He broke a meet record and regional record as well! -Emilie Hoeper, a school record holder from Towson University accepted the job of assistant coach. She rounds out our staff of 6 coaches which is the maximum allowed. -Blaire Kinsey, Katie Rogers, and Katie Bean traveled to the Dominican Republic representing our athletic department on a leadership mission. -We will have 20 swimmers and divers representing our school at the upcoming US Nationals. -The H2Okies have welcomed over 150 youth swimmers to campus for 2 weeks of swim camp this summer. -We have had over 35 swimmers and divers on campus this summer training for summer competition as well as preparing for the upcoming college season. We are so proud of our student-athletes as well as the way they represent our school. Not just with fast swimming and strong diving, but we truly are a family environment. Some schools use the word culture...we live it! Our best to you and yours and we look forward to seeing you in Blacksburg! All the best, Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving
