Dear Irene We have all watched the games on television - TopicsExpress

Dear Irene We have all watched the games on television or clicked the links on youtube and are stunned at the poundage that they toss around. Do not be fooled, a plate is not necessarily a plate. I am not bashing here, these people are strong and fit and most likely have better lungs than I do. However before you watch what they are doing and become discouraged at your own strength gains.. be sure to read what the plates on their bars actually say. Remember that they have a lot of drop-see stuff in their programing and need things to be more forgiving on impact therefore the use of bumper plates, which are pretty much all the same diameter, regardless of actual weight. (just because it looks like a big girl weight doesnt mean that it is) Yellow wont always mean 15 lbs, green wont always mean 5lbs or 10lbs ... As with all other things manufacturers may have their own colour designations, or unit of measure for that matter some will be in kg. Plates may even be custom colours for the club (sorry, box) that has ordered them. While surfing the web or reading Oxygen, make sure you look at what is printed or stamped on the plate. I think you will be more than happy with what you are moving around with your steel weights.
