Dear JFSC Residents, I would like to provide a sincere apology - TopicsExpress

Dear JFSC Residents, I would like to provide a sincere apology for the inconvenience of the scheduled power outage that occurred on Saturday, 26 July that affected the Joint Forces Staff College housing residents. The purpose of the planned outage was to conduct maintenance on a transformer in the housing area. Everything went well and finished on schedule, however, about an hour after the power was restored, a cut-out fuse blew out on a pole behind the NH-95 building. This caused an unplanned power outage that affected all, including the tenants who were affected by the planned outage. This was indeed a very unfortunate coincidence. Our mechanics responded as quickly as they could to locate, diagnose and repair the problem. I realize that the biggest concern for the residents was the lack of advanced notice about the outage and the extended period of time that your power was interrupted. Our Facebook and Twitter sites are usually the best communication sources. We also coordinated with Lincoln Military Housing who put out flyers on each door. Your comments indicate that this was not sufficient so we will investigate the best way to communicate with you all in the future at the next Lincoln Housing meeting with me on 21 August. In the meantime, please like our NSA Hampton Roads Facebook site, follow us on Twitter @NSA_HR and watch the base marquee for important base updates. I know many of you had large amounts of food that spoiled due to the 8-9 hours the power was out. Lincoln Military Housing personal property insurance policy has a $250 deductible for food loss. The resident would need a list and receipts for the amount of food that was lost as a result of the outage. The Navy Marine Corps Relief Society can also assist with food shortage. Please contact them at (757) 322-1171/1182. The Navy also recommends that tenants living in privatized family housing obtain renters and liability insurance. Again, I apologize for the huge inconvenience from this past weekend. While our repair crews performed extraordinarily well in getting the power restored in a timely manner, we will learn from the comments received from our residents to improve our response to similar events in the future. I am committed to the safety and well-being of our military personnel and their families, and ensuring their quality of life is maintained. CAPT Jake Johansson Commanding Officer, NSA HR
