Dear Jazz Fans, Jazzamatazz are pleased to present Jazz Buddies back by popular demand for their second visit. When?-This Sunday, July 13th 12.30-3.00pm Where? The Westwood Club & Reading Rooms, Westwood Heath Rd, Coventry CV4 8GP Admission is £5.00 on the door plus a raffle. Jazz Buddies came about in September 2013 when Birmingham trumpeter Arthur Brown was asked to put a band together at twenty-four hours notice to appear at his local jazz club, the Quarry Sports & Social Club, Northfield. By pure luck famed trombonist Mike Owen had returned to the UK just days before and was looking for gigs, Arthur also secured the services of Brian Mellor(banjo & guitar), Dennis Mowatt(bass), Tim Jones(drums) and Matt Palmer(reeds). It was one those great moments when the band just ‘clicked’ from the word go and we decided this couldn’t be left as a ‘one off’, a new band was born! > The band is committed to bringing new life to the Dixieland and Traditional jazz classics of Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, Jelly Morton et al, this band has the firepower to do just that. > We now perform on the last Monday of each month at the Quarry Club and have also appeared at Jazzamatazz held the Westwood Club Coventry and the Venture Theatre, Ashby De La Zouch. Further dates are planed at various Midlands venues including Nottingham Rhythm Club, a residential Jazz Break in Western Super Mare and an appearance at this years Birmingham Jazz and Blues festival.
